Job Summary

Operate, maintain, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair life safety equipment including but not limited to fire alarms, suppression systems, electronic equipment, instrumentation, emergency generators, transformers (Low & High Voltage), SF6 Switches, and Substation, as necessary with intermediate level skills or above. Coordinate scheduling to utilize contract resources. In a multi-craft environment, the position must be able to direct Life Safety Equipment work to maintenance workers or other craftsperson or be directed by other craftsperson to assist in their related crafts. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Utilities and Plants Operation Staff, Area Maintenance Staff, Building contact person(s), vendors/suppliers, contractors/subcontractors, and environmental health and safety departmentsThis position will typically advise and counsel: Maintenance Worker I, Electricians I & II, and other life safety equipment techniciansThis position will supervise: NA

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Complete all tasks or functions required for operation, maintenance, and code compliance of existing life safety equipment systems and start-up of new systems. Maintain all aspects of code compliance program for all existing wet and dry water-based sprinkler systems.

Job Duty 2 -
Provide technical support for a broad range of electronic equipment used for measuring, testing, and operation of facility type systems. Support will include, but not limited to: setting up, adjusting, calibrating, testing, repairing, etc.

Job Duty 3 -
Provide technical support for the selection, installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of electronic instrumentation.

Job Duty 4 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

Other Required Qualifications
National Athletic Trainers Association certification

Required Experience
Five to seven years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
State of Georgia Low Voltage contractor License, NICET I, and any life safety electrical related license, formal verifiable training programs (ie-Union License) in a related field May require the ability to obtain a state-issued purchasing card (P-Card) to procure materials and account for purchases using state purchasing card guidelines

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or two years college course work

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
Intermediate-level knowledge and skills are required to operate, clean, inspect, adjust, maintain, repair, replace, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm and electrical/electronic circuits. Position requires basic planning and verbal communications skills. In addition, journeyman-level knowledge and skills working with computers, controls, electrical systems, and utility services, ability to read drawings, and understanding specifications are required. Intermediate-level working knowledge and skills are required in general construction, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting is required. The job may require operating and maintaining building systems, machine tools, maintenance equipment, motor vehicles, hand/power tools, electrical/electronic instrumentation and light equipment.

Pay Range: $23.78/hr - $32.34/hr

This position may be scheduled for 2nd or 3rd shift. Shift preference and availability will be discussed during the interview process.
