Employee Type: Regular This position will safely perform all aspects of rolling stock maintenance as assigned by the supervisor. This requires a strong commitment to safety while ensuring that equipment remain functional, reliable and well maintained. Job Description: Essential Duties: Perform preventive maintenance such as change oil and grease and replace components on a scheduled basis. Troubleshoot/diagnose heavy equipment malfunctions and replace parts, repair, and rebuild as necessary. Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools. Read blueprints and follow service manuals and parts lists in setting up and performing repairs and any rebuilds. Utilize work orders and requisitions for ordering parts and maintenance of equipment cost records. Advise when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when continued operation will have no harmful effect. Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and State and Federal environmental regulations. Other Duties: Operate the equipment to diagnose problems. Operate light vehicles to travel throughout the mine site. Maintain shop area in a safe and clean manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Background in repair and maintenance including ability to read, understand, and use prints and manuals. Knowledge of mechanical, i.e., engine, transmission, drive train, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and air conditioning systems. Skilled in diagnosing malfunctions.
