We're actively seeking a talented Sr Consultant Enterprise Engineer to serve as a cross-functional thought leader to embed and shaping enterprise engineering strategy with GenAI capabilities into the core of Pacific Life engineering practice as part of our Engineering Excellence team in [Newport Beach, CA; Aliso Viejo, CA; Omaha NE or Lynchburg, VA].

Key Responsibilities Enterprise Engineering Strategy
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure engineering platforms that seamlessly integrate GenAI capabilities, ensuring long-term reliability and ease of maintenance.
  • Spearhead or enable the transformation of existing legacy systems and outdated workflows by introducing AI-native development methodologies and modern technology stacks.
  • Work closely with product management, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure that engineering advancements and GenAI initiatives are strategically aligned with overall enterprise objectives.
  • Develop and maintain clear metrics and continuous feedback mechanisms to evaluate and enhance engineering performance, quantify the impact of GenAI adoption, and improve the overall developer experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and remove systemic barriers to innovation, ensuring that engineering processes remain agile and adaptable to evolving business needs.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-wide standards for software architecture, technical documentation, and code quality to drive consistency and scalability across all engineering initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee programs for continuous improvement, leveraging data-driven insights and metrics to optimize engineering performance and accelerate delivery of business-critical solutions.
GenAI Engineering Enablement
  • Develop, refine, and communicate a comprehensive enterprise-wide strategy for integrating GenAI-assisted software development. This includes selecting and standardizing advanced tooling, designing optimized development workflows, and establishing clear governance frameworks to ensure consistent, secure, and effective adoption of GenAI technologies.
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of GenAI capabilities throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)-from AI-driven code generation and automated documentation to intelligent test automation, enhanced developer support, and modernization of platform engineering practices. Drive measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Design and participate in targeted enablement and training programs to upskill engineering teams on GenAI tools, best practices, and responsible usage. Foster a culture of continuous learning focused on maximizing productivity gains while adhering to ethical and operational standards.
  • Collaborate proactively with AI governance, compliance, and legal teams to define and enforce robust policies for the ethical, auditable, and secure deployment of GenAI solutions.

Strategic Leadership & Influence

  • Provide hands-on mentorship to Principal and Sr engineers across technical domains, actively promoting an environment where innovative ideas, rapid experimentation, and a commitment to technical excellence are encouraged and recognized.
  • Act as the primary engineering representative in organization-wide transformation projects, such as large-scale cloud migration, integration and standardization of enterprise platforms, and the formulation and execution of AI and GenAI strategies.
  • Advise executive leadership with strategic insights into emerging technology trends, assessing the organization's engineering maturity, and guiding the evolution and responsible adoption of GenAI solutions.
  • Enhance the organization's external presence by contributing thought leadership through speaking engagements at conferences, publishing technical articles, and actively participating in open-source software initiatives as appropriate and approved.
Qualifications
  • 20+ years in software engineering and/or Software Architecture, complemented by more than five years in enterprise-scale technical leadership positions guiding large teams and complex initiatives.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully transforming engineering practices and processes across major, highly regulated organizations, driving innovation and operational excellence.
  • Extensive expertise in designing and implementing robust software architecture, leading platform engineering efforts, and empowering developers through enablement programs and strategic tooling.
  • Possesses hands-on proficiency with GenAI frameworks with experience in deploying and operationalizing GenAI solutions within enterprise environments.
  • Well-versed in engineering governance, regulatory compliance, and secure development lifecycle management, ensuring solutions meet stringent audit and security requirements.
  • Distinguished by outstanding communication skills, executive-level influence, and the ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Adept at advising senior leadership on technology strategy, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and driving the adoption of GenAI technologies to achieve measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and scalability.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$203,760.00 - $249,040.00
