Your Job

We are looking for a full-time Assistant Engineer to work on optical component testing with lab equipment, fiber optical module assembly and optoelectronic system optimization by implementing engineer's protocol. This person will be working hands on with testing, alignment, assembling optomechanical fixtures and implementing DOE experiments to validate improvements of optical testing methods.

In Fremont, California, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical components & modules to support our customer's next generation networks.

What You Will Do

  • Perform optical modules building, optical system test, data collection and analysis.
  • Perform various DOE experiments to validate optical test results and approaches.
  • Perform hands-on optical fiber routing and assembly in optical modules
  • Perform failure analysis and troubleshooting for optical modules
  • Document test procedures, collect experimental data and summarize the test results.
  • Work with engineers to develop and document process flow

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Associate degree or higher in science or engineering with laboratory experience.
  • Six (6) years or more work experience in a cleanroom environment.
  • Knowledge of optical and electrical test systems, including optical components, optical alignment, electronic devices, optical fibers, and lasers.
  • Experience supporting optical alignment and fiber assembly
  • Experience with Microsoft Office to perform data collection, analysis and documentation
  • Experience diagnosing engineering problems and resolve with minimum guidance

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Hands-on experience in optical alignment setup, optical testing and assembly process
  • Experience with optical fiber bundle assembly and routing process
  • Experience using excel or equivalent tools to do data analysis and graphic plots
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin
  • Understanding of ESD safety and laser protection

For this role, we anticipate paying $70,000 - $80,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
