Job Title: Technical Editor - Cyber/IT Environment
Employment Type: Regular
Work Schedule: Full-Time, 40hr/week
Location: Fort Huachuca, Arizona
Clearance Level: Secret Clearance
Job Summary:
The Technical Editor is responsible for reviewing, refining, and ensuring the accuracy and clarity of technical documentation related to IT systems, software, and processes. This role involves editing content for consistency, compliance, and readability while collaborating with engineers, and subject matter experts. The Technical Editor ensures all documentation meets organizational standards and supports IT operations, maintenance, and compliance requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
* Editing & Quality Control:
o Review and edit technical documents, including system manuals, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical specifications.
o Ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to organizational and industry standards.
o Correct grammar, formatting, and technical terminology for consistency across all documents.
* Content Management:
o Maintain version control and ensure proper document lifecycle management.
o Verify compliance with IT security and regulatory standards (e.g., NIST, DoD, ISO).
o Prepare documents for publication and distribution in digital and print formats.
* Collaboration:
o Work closely with IT teams, developers, and project managers to clarify technical details.
o Coordinate with technical writers and subject matter experts to resolve discrepancies and improve content quality.
* Continuous Improvement:
o Develop and enforce editorial guidelines and templates for IT documentation.
o Identify gaps in existing documentation and recommend updates or new content.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Technology, or related field.
* Security Clearance: SECRET
* Experience:
o 3+ years of experience in technical editing or writing within an IT environment.
o Familiarity with IT systems, networking, cybersecurity, and software development terminology.
* Skills:
o Strong editorial and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
o Proficiency in documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Adobe FrameMaker, MS Office).
o Ability to interpret complex technical information and present it clearly.
Additional Competencies:
* Knowledge of IT compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ITIL, DoD standards).
* Familiarity with content management systems and version control tools (e.g., Git).
* Strong organizational and communication skills.
