The Director, Federal Government Affairs is a member of the U.S. Government Affairs team and reports to the Head of Government Affairs & Market Development, United States and Canada. This position will be responsible for initiating and executing comprehensive strategies around policy proposals in Washington that will support Vantive priorities to bring innovative therapies to patients and clinicians. The individual will be responsible for implementing an outreach strategy with Members of the United States Congress that align with Vantive's patient focused principles. The Director will monitor and analyze policies, trends and activities in Washington, DC and will be responsible for communicating the business impact to key external and internal stakeholders and shaping legislation through engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent Vantive before the U.S. Congress and the Executive Branch on company specific issues as well as issues of importance to the medical technology industry.

  • Collaborate with internal business partners to ensure an aligned approach and pursuit of goals and priorities.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with Members of Congress and their staff that will distinguish the company as a leader in the medical technology space while proactively advancing company objectives.

  • Navigate the legislative and political environment and create (and implement) comprehensive strategies to address regulatory, legislative and policy issues that may impact Vantive.

  • Engage with external groups, including trade associations, to influence internal decisions and ensure alignment with Vantive's goals and priorities.

  • Provide updates and presentations to internal colleagues on developments in Washington, DC.

  • Manage federal engagement by Vantive consultants.

  • Additional duties as necessary to support the Corporate Affairs function.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree in Political Science, Economics, Health Economics, Law; MBA, Public Policy/Public Administration, and/or Health Administration/Public Health preferred

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience/ service on Capitol Hill or relevant private sector professional experience

  • Excellent verbal, analytical, written and interpersonal communication skills, particularly in interpreting and distilling complex information

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills-demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple work streams

  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, including trade associations and coalitions, and ability to proactively drive consensus.

  • Ability to maintain good working relationships, internally and externally

  • Must be organized and a self-starter

  • Travel as required

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Vantive, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $200,000 - $260,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission, and/or long-term incentive .
