Position Summary

The Senior Clean Energy Quantitative Analyst will support PG&E's long-term system planning efforts to advance PG&E environmental goals.

The successful candidate has a background in the energy industry (California or similar markets) and is able to take help create innovative solutions and support complex initiatives to advance PG&E's position.

Department Overview

This position will reside within PG&E's System Planning organization. System Planning is part of PG&E's Engineering, Planning and Strategy organization. The vision for System Planning is to lead the way in inventing California's new clean-energy future. The work is informed by analytics using an integrated planning approach, considering California's and PG&E's electric system, gas system, advanced load management, and bulk generation resources. System Planning provides support for PG&E's commercial and regulatory activities and important linkages to PG&E's policy, strategy, investment, and finance plans.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. The preferred work location is Oakland, CA.

PG&E is providing the salary range that can reasonably be expected for this position at the time of thejob posting. This salary range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, and geographic location.The decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.This job is also eligible to participate inPG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area: $102,000.00 to $132,000.00

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Build and implement systems to deliver clear, connective narratives and documentation that provides transparency and linkages between PG&E's strategies, operating plans and the forecasts: Collaborate with forecasting, planning, rate-analytics and finance teams within PG&E to compile key forecasts and planning and operating metrics. This documentation will be used throughout PG&E and by the senior leadership team and includes information such as electric sales and generation, natural gas throughput, investment plans, technology costs and commodity prices.
  • Gas and electric load forecasting: Take part in gas throughput and electric sales forecasting activities performed by the System Planning department.
  • Regulatory Filings: Informed by analytics, aids the development of PG&E's regulatory filings and participation in the CPUC and CAISO planning proceedings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, Econometrics or Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics, Business or equivalent field.
  • Job-related experience 4 years,
  • OR Master's Degree and 3 years job-related
  • OR Doctorate and 1 years

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a technical field
  • Knowledge of California or similar energy markets and environmental policy goals
  • Knowledge and expertise in utility industry in the areas of resource planning, transmission planning, CAISO (or similar) market.
  • Python or equivalent programming language for complex modeling and analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience with Statistical modeling including regression analysis.
  • Experience with state and/or regional, federal energy regulatory proceedings and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a conceptual issue and independently design and complete innovative analysis to draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to concisely convey information based on unique audience needs.
  • Strong capability in building internal and external relationships and identifying customer concerns.
  • Strong capability in prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
