We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Data Platform Engineer & Architect to join our Wealth Services Data team. This role is located in Jersey City. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Architect streaming data ingestion and integration with downstream systems
- Implement AI-driven complex event management orchestrator to optimize processing of tens of millions of data streams and micro-batches
- Develop AI-enabled compute engine APIS and data serving semantic layer
- Deliver scalable cloud data services and APIs with sub-second response times over petabytes of data
- Implement a data quality monitoring framework
- Develop a unified alerting and monitoring framework supporting data pipelines and compute for hundreds institutional clients
- Engage stakeholders to gather requirements and clearly communicate complex database/architecture concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Lead cross-platform, data-driven application design, development, and documentation; deliver performant, well-tested frontend and backend code.
- Elevate quality through code/data pipeline reviews, strong database design and integrity, and balanced tech debt-leveraging full stack skills with security, relational DB, and architecture fundamentals.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in data engineering and application development
- At least 6-12 years working with cloud-based data technology such as Snowflake or Databricks
- Strong understanding of database fundamentals, including data modeling, advanced SQL development and optimization, ELT/ETL processes and DBT.
- 7+ years of Python programming focused on data processing and distributed systems
- Experience with Java, Oracle, Kafka, MS SQL Server, Druid, Qlik/Golden Gate CDC, Visualization frameworks like Dash and Power BI is a plus
- Exposure to AI based advance techniques and tools
- Strong leadership abilities and excellent communication skills
- Continuous desire to expand knowledge, adopt new technologies, and champion best practices within the team.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $142,000 and $230,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
