Position Summary

The Detailer I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting vehicle preparation and cleaning tasks essential to the quality and presentation of Midwest Automotive Design's custom automotive products. This position focuses on maintaining cleanliness, performing basic detailing functions, and assisting senior team members to ensure vehicles meet company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced detailing tasks, including paint correction, buffing, polishing, ceramic application, stain removal, and interior restoration.
  • Conduct final vehicle inspections to ensure all detailing work meets company quality standards.
  • Mentor, guide, and train Detailer I and II staff in proper techniques and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with production teams to coordinate vehicle readiness for delivery or photography.
  • Identify and correct imperfections, defects, or inconsistencies in finishes and materials.
  • Maintain and manage detailing tools, equipment, and chemical inventory.
  • Communicate issues, delays, or quality concerns to the Detailing Supervisor.
  • Assist in developing and improving detailing processes and best practices.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional detailing experience or equivalent skill level.
  • Demonstrated expertise with advanced tools (buffers, extractors, polishers) and detailing products.
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle interior materials, finishes, and high-end surfaces.
  • Ability to perform rigorous physical labor, stand for long periods, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred

  • Certifications in paint correction, ceramic coating, or advanced detailing.
  • Experience in custom or luxury automotive environments.
