    Who You Are...

    As Senior Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for senior-level tasks that ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll for a branch that has multiple unions and complex pay structures. This role also involves executing various operational and administrative activities to support the effective and efficient functioning of both the corporate payroll department and the payroll teams in the business unit.

    Some examples of the work you might do includes:



    • Facilitates the comprehensive processing of branch payroll for a multi-union workforce, ensuring that all contractual requirements, rates, and work rules are accurately implemented.
    • Reviews and validates timekeeping data, wage calculations, and deductions to ensure accuracy and compliance with union agreements and company policies.
    • Collaborates with branch leadership, People & Culture, and union representatives to promptly resolve payroll-related discrepancies and address any questions.
    • Ensures the timely and accurate submission of payroll data to corporate payroll for processing and reporting.
    • Stays informed about updates to union contracts, wage scales, shift premiums, and other pay provisions that affect payroll.
    • Assists in implementing payroll process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance for both branch and corporate teams.
    • Prepares and maintains payroll records, reports, and supporting documentation in accordance with internal controls and audit requirements.
    • Assists corporate and business unit payroll teams with reporting requirements and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, as well as company policies and collective bargaining agreements.
    • Participates in peer audits/reviews of payrolls processed by other team members and collaboratively communicate issues as appropriate.
    • Participates in special projects as required.


    What You Need...



    • An Associate's degree or higher in a related field, or at least 5 years of payroll-related job experience in lieu of a degree.
    • Possess excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with multiple levels of management within the organization.
    • Knowledge of payroll related taxation rules/ laws
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills dealing with regular and complex problems.
    • Skilled at handling confidential information using tact and discretion.
    • Proficient with MS Office applications and Google Suite, specifically MS Word, with an intermediate to advanced level of experience with Excel and/or Google Sheets.
    • A high degree of comfort with technology, with a desire to learn.
    • Deadline driven, resilient and able to work well in both structured and unstructured environments.
    • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time and work on-site at the office of a refinery in the Twin Cities area.


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Experience and working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista is preferred.
    • Experience and working knowledge of UKG is preferred.
    • Familiarity with the Track Time & Attendance System is beneficial.
    • Prior experience in the construction industry is advantageous.

    • This position operates primarily in an office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and printers.


    Physical Demands:



    • In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to talk, hear, perform repetitive motion, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
    • This is considered a sedentary position, which means possible exertion up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
