Responsible for supporting the overall equipment and supply needs of the respiratory care department by adequately taking inventory, ordering, stocking, and maintaining clinical supplies and equipment to support departmental operations and patient care. Coordinates the delivery and removal of respiratory care equipment to ensure good working condition and sufficient supply. Coordinates care of ventilator and non -invasive ventilator fleet including
availability, cleaning, set up, operational verification, distribution, rental orders and returns, and preventive maintenance with Clinical Engineering. Contributes to a positive work environment and demonstrates an ongoing commitment to excellent customer service and high-quality work performance at all times. Supports the development of programs that support the management of the Respiratory Department equipment and facilities in order to drive
efficiencies in product ordering, availability, utilization, and clinical staff satisfaction. Collaborates with respiratory leadership, supply chain, engineering, and outside vendors in the appropriate inventory of functional and up to date equipment to support clinical operations. Ensures environment of care and supply regulatory standards are met.

Responsibilities

      • 1. Oversees operations relating to patient care supply inventory, preventive Mantainance,regulatory readiness, and general office operations.
        • 1 1. Completes and manages purchase orders for all outside equipment, oversees PDAD use, and ensures
          internal storeroom supply issues are resolved.
          1 2. Assist with general office operations as needed such as xeroxing, answering telephones, taking
          messages, mail, and calling staff as needed.
          1 3. Performs minor equipment repairs as needed i.e., flowmeters, small painting, etc., and assists with
          space moves.
          1 4. Ensures regulatory agency environment standards are met in work areas. Makes regular inspection of
          all work stocking areas and resolves any issues.
          1 5. Oversees orientation process for new aides involving ordering and maintenance of equipment and
          supplies.
      • 2. Cleans and sets up equipment and maintains the respiratory care work areas to ensure efficient operations. Completes all related paperwork when appropriate.
        • 2 1. Ensures the environment of care in department work areas is maintained on a daily basis i.e. satellites,
          storage areas and refrigerators, counter tops, etc. Calls SRC as appropriate to resolve issues.
          2 2. Ensures ventilators are cleaned according to infection control standards.
          2 3. Ensures ventilators, non-invasive devices, and other applicable equipment have preventive maintenance
          sticker, and have performed established safety checking, resolving any problems.
          2 4. Ensures periodical wipe-downs of other respiratory care equipment as evidenced by equipment
          cleanliness
        • 2 5. Ensures broken equipment or ventilator needing preventive maintenance is removed from service and
          appropriate paperwork is maintained.
          2 6. Coordinates preventive maintance of equipment with clinical Engineering.
      • 3. Responds to therapist equipment requests to ensure an efficient and orderly process and assists supervisor/ charge therapist with maintaining par levels of equipment and respiratory gases.
        • 3.1 Ensures transport ventilators are set up correctly with gas supply hoses, connectors and correct level of transport ventilators are maintained in each area as observed by supervisor or therapist.
        • 3 2. Responds within five (5) minutes when called as observed by supervisor or therapist .
          3 3. Responds to therapists' requests for specific equipment in a timely manner. (i.e., Helium Tank, BIPAP, batteries, transport ventilator, nitric, etc.)
        • 4. Manages and ensures an adequate equipment supply at all times. Uses ParX correctly to maintain par levels of supplies.
        • 4 1. Checks dirty utility rooms and other areas daily for respiratory equipment and returns equipment to appropriate area or CSS. 4 2. Ensures adequate supplies at all times. Inventories He/O2 tanks daily and contacts SRC as necessary to reorder/ pick up tanks.
        • 4 3. Ensures equipment is gathered and distributed on daily basis to all satellites to ensure an adequate supply.
        • 4 4. Ensures dirty equipment is gathered on a daily basis and ensures timely delivery to central supply resolving any issues with
        • CSS staff.
        • 4 5. Inventories storage areas using ParX to ensure adequate supply levels correcting any deficiencies of supplies.
        • 4 6. Ensures supplies delivered to department are correct and timely. Resolves any issues with MaterialsManagement and/or Vendors and Buyer.
        • 4 7. Ensures environment of care regulatory standards are met; corrects issues identified;calls SRC if appropriate
        • 4 8. Assists with rentals and returns of equipment as needed to ensure adequate supplies

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High school diploma, college preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a clinical operations or supply chain setting. Expert knowledge of supply chain
ordering process and clinical equipment is required. Minimum of 3 years working with Medical /Surgical Supplies in
hospital or related environment, CSS or Materials Management capacity preferred. Experience with purchasing , accounts payable, and patient billing is preferred. Must be familiar with Materials Management Functions of
inventory, ordering, receipt and stocking, review of usage report data and development of appropriate PAR levels . Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, EPIC, QSIGHT and Lawson applications pr

Ability to prioritize and adjust work plans in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of clinical engineering policies, clinical operation, and information systems. Strong personal computer skills. Proficiency and demonstrated effectiveness in analytical thinking and problem solving related to increased departmental and organizational operating efficiency. Ability to effectively manage and prioritize assigned projects and initiatives. Ability to make arithmetic computations with accuracy and moderate speed. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Pushing and pulling of Respiratory Care equipment to patient care units. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
