As aTechnology Engineer Lead in emailrouting,you willplay a cross functional leadership role in ensuring the stability,security, andcompliant email deliverythat support Capital Group's business functions.The ideal candidate has deepexpertisein Microsoft Exchange Online, hybrid configurations, and modernemail security practices, including anti-spam/virus protection, secure messaging, and advanced threat mitigation.Youare a point of escalation for complex and difficult integration issues andapplyexpert level technical and analytical abilities toidentify, communicate, and resolve complex issues to minimize impact on critical business functions.You willalso provide guidance and mentoring to less senior engineers. Substantial Microsoft platform knowledge is a fundamental requirement for this role.

You bring deepexpertisein platform engineering and a strong understanding ofemail routing, enablinga critical productivity channel for internal and external communications. You will work closely with Legal, Product Management, Architecture, and Information Security todeliver and supportwith care, enforce governance, and ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilitiesinclude:

Email Routing & Infrastructure

  • You will design, implement, andmaintainemail routing architectureleveragingMicrosoft Exchange Online,hybrid configurations, and related servicessupporting 50+ email domains.

  • You will manage mail flow rules, connectors, and transport policies to ensureoptimalrouting and compliance.

  • You will oversee integration with third-party email security gateways(e.g.Zix, IronPort)and monitoring tools.

Security & Compliance

  • You will configure andmaintainanti-spam, anti-virus, and phishing protectionusing Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and relatedtechnologies.

  • You will implement secure messaging solutions (e.g., encryption,TLS,DLP policies) to protect sensitive data.

  • You have familiarity with PKI and Certificate management

Threat Management & Incident Response

  • You willmonitorand respond to email security incidents, including spam outbreaks, phishing attempts, and malware threats.

  • You will collaborate with InfoSec teams to enhance detection and response capabilities.

Modern Security Practices

  • You will implementadvanced authentication and identity protection measures (e.g., MFA, conditional access).

  • You will stay current with evolving email security threats and Microsoft security roadmap.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • You willmentora team of engineers andprovidetechnical guidance on email routing and secure messagingbest practices.

  • You will partnerwith and drive resolution of complex issues throughcross-functional teams (InfoSec, Network, Cloud Operations)whilealigningemailcapabilitieswith enterprise architecture.

  • You will developand approvedocumentation, SOPs, and training for operational teams.

  • You have10+years of Microsoftmessagingengineering experience,with at least 3years in a leadership role.

  • You have strongproficiencyinMicrosoft Exchange Online, Defender for Office 365,Microsoft Purview,and hybrid email environments.

  • You have a deep understanding ofemailauthentication and anti-spoofingprotocols(SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and threat mitigation strategies.

  • You have familiarity withsecure messaging technologies, encryption standards, and compliance frameworks.

  • You have hands-on experience withPowerShell scriptingfor automation and troubleshooting.

  • You have experience with authentication and directory services in support of integration across platforms

  • You have a solid understanding of networking concepts such as IP addressing, firewalls, proxies, port usage,DNSand network devices (e.g.routers, switches) as well as experience troubleshooting packet capture analysis.

  • You can deal with ambiguity, manage complexity, anddriveresults;ultimately, takingend-to-end ownership of the outcome.

  • You are adept at troubleshooting complex cross-stack issues using data and telemetry and drivingtimelyresolution.

  • You lead by example-mentoring engineers, guiding cross-functional initiatives, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive culture.

  • You communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executives, producing well-structured proposals, architectural diagrams, and documentation.

  • You have experienceoperatingin large, regulated enterprises (ideally financial services), and navigating governance, risk, and compliance.

  • Youhave experiencewith observabilityand SIEM interfaces withdemonstratedexperienceinanomaly detection.

  • You are comfortable working with ITSM tools and frameworks (e.g., ServiceNow, ITIL) and integrating automated workflows for incident and change management.

  • You have experience with prioritizing workloads using agile methodologies

Southern California Base Salary Range: $179,273-$286,837

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
