SIOP Planning Lead

BARNES
United States, Connecticut, Bristol
123 Main Street (Show on map)
Dec 10, 2025
Description
What You Will Do

  • Perform rough-cut and finite-capacity analyses to identify bottlenecks and recommend solutions such as shift adjustments, staffing plans, or capital expenditure (CapEx).
  • Develop and maintain capacity models to support master production scheduling (MPS) and ensure alignment with demand forecasts and material availability.
  • Analyze production data to track and report key metrics, including capacity utilization, schedule adherence, arrears, and throughput performance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to resolve constraints and ensure feasible production plans within the SIOP process.
  • Support weekly Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) reviews by providing capacity insights and identifying execution gaps at the part family level.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production inefficiencies or missed commitments, driving corrective actions to improve scheduling discipline.
  • Create and deploy dashboards to visualize capacity risks, production trends, and resource utilization for site-level and enterprise-wide decision-making.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce cycle times.
  • Support the standardization of capacity planning and scheduling processes across Barnes Aerospace sites, mentoring site planners and production teams.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP) and simulation tools to model and optimize production workflows and resource allocation.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering, capacity planning, or production scheduling within aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Strong expertise in capacity planning logic, master production scheduling, and ERP/MRP tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau) for capacity and performance reporting.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze complex production constraints and propose data-driven, pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering.

Highly Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and/or knowledge of Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) and its application to industrial engineering processes.
  • Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing standards (AS9100) and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Certifications in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt), or other process improvement methodologies; a Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
  • APICS certifications such as CPIM or CSCP are a strong plus.
