Job Summary

This system engineering position is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems across multiple data centers and cloud environments. The role support of a wide range of technologies, including servers, networking, storage, virtualization, automation, scripting and various cloud-based services.

The incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the management of Windows systems, VMware virtualization, Microsoft Active Directory (AD), and Citrix. This role requires advanced expertise in managing server deployments, configuration management, and patching in a rapidly growing, mission-critical, and increasingly complex environment.

Additionally, the incumbent will also serve as a Cloud Engineer, assisting with the provisioning and migration of systems, applications, and core infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. The role includes the ability to manage cloud-based infrastructure resources and services to ensure scalability, security, and high performance.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years working in Information Technology or equivalent field.
  • Expert in designing, implementing and supporting Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, VMWare virtualization, and Citrix.
  • Experience with managing public and private certificate.
  • Extensive experience with server technologies including Windows Server, VMWare, and Citrix.
  • Extensive experience with server hardening.
  • Expert knowledge in server operation, server management, and patch management.
  • Experience with scripting and automation, preferably PowerShell and PowerCLI.
  • Understanding of the OSI model.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed fashion, interacting effectively with senior UCDH staff, faculty, and technical personnel.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issue effectively.
  • Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure of deadlines and critical circumstances.
  • Always displays a courteous and professional attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in Healthcare IT.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems security and support (all versions).
  • Experience with Citrix.
  • Experience with VMware.
  • Experience with managing M365, Azure and AWS services.
  • Experience with cloud-based technology, process and standards
  • Experience with HPE hardware including chassis, blade, rack mount servers and other HPE components.
  • Experience with project management practice and methodologies.

Work Environment
