Job Summary

The Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator will support a randomized controlled trial of a primary care-based intervention to prevent obesity among low-income Latino infants and toddlers. Responsibilities may include trial recruitment, data collection via surveys and medical records review, and delivering brief health education and coaching to parents of infants and toddlers just after well child visits. The study will take place at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center site in Sunnyvale, CA and will enroll low-income Latino families who are primarily Spanish speaking. Candidates should expect to work in person at the Sunnyvale site 4-5 days per week with occasional travel for in-person meetings in San Francisco.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $30.80 - $49.53 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Pediatrics is rich in clinical research programs that inform the care of patients with common and uncommon disorders. Our physicians deliver expert care to patients at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) and at a number of outreach clinics throughout Northern California. The clinical care we provide is nourished by pioneering basic and clinical research conducted by physician-scientists.

Required Qualifications


  • HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills; excellent organizational skills; and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse team.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Windows.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment; project management and coordination skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines on concurrent projects.
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with patients, co-workers, & physicians.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Demonstrated proficiency with medical terminology.
  • Experience working with patients or study subjects.
  • Ability to abstract data from medical records and transfer it to data collection forms or directly into databases.
