Job Summary

Join our dedicated team as a Material Handler Class I, where you will play a crucial role in the efficient handling and transportation of materials within our facility. This position involves operating motorized industrial equipment to support loading, unloading, and inventory management, contributing to seamless warehouse operations.


Rate of Pay for this role is $16.50 + $2.00 differential

Primary Duties

  • Operate various motorized industrial equipment including sit-down forklifts, stock pickers, and reach trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and relocate materials within the facility.
  • Conduct thorough daily inspections of all assigned equipment to ensure operational safety and report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistent quality and safety standards throughout work processes.
  • Utilize hand-held or truck-mounted radio frequency (RF) scanners for accurate tracking, picking, and put-away of products, ensuring inventory integrity.
  • Consistently comply with all safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment for self and team members.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logs or documentation related to performed tasks, such as equipment usage and material movements, to support operational record-keeping.
  • Follow work orders and assignment instructions meticulously within the facility to meet production and shipping schedules.
  • Execute additional responsibilities or special projects as assigned by supervisors, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and other departments to optimize workflow and achieve operational goals smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully pass the motorized industrial equipment certification test and obtain the required licensing to operate forklifts and other machinery responsibly and confidently.
  • Willingness and ability to rotate through various job functions within the department, promoting versatility and teamwork.
  • Active participation in departmental meetings and continuous improvement projects to foster communication and contribute ideas for enhanced efficiency.
  • A strong commitment to meet or exceed safety, accuracy, productivity, and housekeeping standards consistently.
  • Effective comprehension and execution of both verbal and written instructions, ensuring tasks are completed correctly and on time.
  • Capability to work proactively and independently, managing time and responsibilities without constant supervision.
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to perform inventory counts, measurements, and basic calculations related to material handling tasks.
  • Dependable attendance record with the flexibility to work overtime hours when necessary to support business needs.
  • Physical fitness to safely lift and transport materials weighing up to 45 pounds regularly, with stamina to perform tasks involving reaching, carrying, and rotating.
  • Ability to work in an environment with moderate noise levels, maintaining clear communication and situational awareness at all times.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, but not mandatory provided there is one to three months of relevant experience and/or training in material handling or warehouse operations.
  • An equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in industrial equipment operation or logistics may also be considered.
  • Prior exposure to warehouse or manufacturing environments is advantageous, offering familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices.

The US base rate for this full-time position is 16.50. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
