Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Systems Administrator in the Santa Monica office.


Responsibilities

  • Work with the Support Specialist team to resolve and close incident tickets timely.
  • Respond to emails and phone calls to resolve user inquiries and requests.
  • Regularly review IT Team processes and use Rapid Improvement Program to improve service levels and response times.
  • Review ServiceNow tickets to identify the root cause for significant volume categories.
  • Report regularly on the team and individual metrics.
  • Attend user groups and other professional events to understand technologies, tools, and trends in the Service Desk support and services.
  • Affiliate with other IS&T teams to collaborate on common initiatives/projects.
  • Lead/participate on project teams to improve technology interoperability and improvement as identified and appropriate.
  • Work with all members of the IS&T Department to establish credible, successful, high-integrity technical support.
  • Assist the IT Manager, or Regional Head of IT Services with the local office budget and enforce local office spending guidelines.
  • Assist with IT procurement.
  • Proactively monitor, and administrate server systems performance, and architecture and provide Senior level leadership with recommendations for effective optimization, utilization, and/or application.
  • Review assigned and unassigned ServiceNow tickets, changing assignments as necessary to ensure the fastest knowledgeable response as needed.
  • Coordinate, implement, and support server systems and infrastructure, including Network Operating Systems, and specific software applications used by the Firm.
  • Perform analysis and provide improvement recommendations.
  • Identify new technologies with the potential to advance the firm's overall business and practice initiatives.
  • Develop, review, and update systems engineering communications and process documentation.
  • Develop relationships with systems providers and vendors as the primary technical contact.
  • Develops and administers comprehensive methodologies to monitor system health and performance, firmware/software revision levels, and other upgrades to increase system reliability and performance.
  • Installs, configures, and administers desktop and/or server hardware and software applications, including desktops, servers, peripherals, the Desktop/Network Operating System (NOS), and specific software applications used by the Firm.
  • Desktop and/or Server hardware installation - assist IS&T personnel and vendors with the installation of computer and peripheral computer hardware as required. Duties include verification of receipts of shipment, unpacking of hardware, and proper placement of components, as well as tracking and inputting inventory control information.
  • Administers domain user accounts, user environments, file directories and shares, security, and other associated system settings as necessary to fulfill the Firm's administrative needs.
  • Assist with onsite and off-site depositions, war rooms, and events as needed.
  • Assist with any other projects as requested.

Qualifications

Technical Qualifications:

Must possess a solid understanding of and experience with network infrastructures, the latest Microsoft Windows server and desktop, office 365, Azure, Active Directory, Exchange, Mobile Device Management, VPN, and maintaining laptops, desktops, switches, and servers.

installation of critical software updates (Service packs and Hot Fixes).

Additional Qualifications:

Professional IT or PMP certifications are desirable.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to provide clear leadership and guidance to communications staff and/or peers concerning implementing, managing, and supporting the systems for which you are responsible.
  • This position requires the ability to adapt to flexible work hours to meet the firm's business requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $71,000 and $93,000.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
