Jet Avion Corporation is located at HEICO's corporate headquarters in Hollywood, Florida and specializes in the supply of various platforms of aircraft and engine PMAs. Our products and capabilities vary from interiors cabin interiors to highly complex power plant and accessory parts.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing project efforts in pursuit of FAA Parts Manufacturing Approval for airworthy flight hardware. Additional responsibilities of this position include supporting both internal and external stakeholders, creating and implementing policies to streamline departmental operations, mentoring and being a technical resource for the engineering Team Members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Developing complex designs and substantiation packages for FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval applications with minimal or no supervision.
  • Assisting in the development of manufacturing processes for airworthy flight components
  • Coordinating first article or conformity inspection activities between the company's Quality Assurance department, ODA, Technical Services and management.
  • Develop vendor substantiation requirements for outside manufacturing vendors
  • Support activities related to new vendor qualification including new vendor identification and selection
  • Support QA department and vendors questions about drawing interpretation, manufacturing methods, inspection methods, etc.
  • Participating in the disposition of non-conforming materials, including analyzing the non-conformance for fit, function, safety, and reliability, and communicating with QA, suppliers, and the FAA liaison as required
  • Completing Engineering Changes with supporting substantiation as required
  • Supporting customers and operators regarding our products
  • Mentor and train junior P.E.'s on designs, methods, regulations and procedures.
  • Review and approve designs, calculations and substantiations of others.
  • Lead in resolution of service or manufacturing issues.
  • Devise and implement improvements for systems and procedures.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university required.



EXPERIENCE:



  • At least 6-10 years aerospace / mechanical design experience is required.
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software (Geomagic/DesignX, Solid works, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with mechanical drafting, GD&T, inspection methods and manufacturing processes required
  • Experience leading projects, teams, and development efforts.
  • Experience with risk, metrics and opportunity identification and mitigation.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:

Language/Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Computer Skills: MS Office, 3D CAD software (Geomagic/DesignX, Solid works, etc.)

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply engineering calculations including static and dynamic vector mechanics, stress, strain and deformation.

Reasoning Abilities: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks. Understanding the need for urgency and ability to meet deadlines.

Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of aircraft engine components, controls & accessories, and/or aircraft interiors required. Knowledge of basic structural, thermal, and modal analysis of mechanical components required. Knowledge of aerospace materials and coatings required. Knowledge of conventional aerospace manufacturing methods, such as milling, turning, grinding, lapping, stamping, forging, casting, molding, EDM, ECM, welding, brazing, heat treating required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
