Estimated annual base pay: $65,000 (min) - $84,000 (mid) - $104,000 (max)

Technical Writer III

Estimated annual base pay: $77,000 (min) - $100,000 (mid) - $123,000(max)

Tech Writer II

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and Maintenance of Work Instructions and Assembly procedures for Assembly and test of Woodward's Industrial products. This includes fitting instructions to MES or similar documentation delivery systems.
  • Create Comprehensive Technical Documentation: Develops clear and detailed technical manuals, process execution instructions, and reference materials for complex products, processes and systems.
  • Provide Expertise and Support: Acts as a resource for Cross functional team members by offering guidance and assistance in creating and maintaining technical documentation that is meaningful to the target audience.
  • Utilize and support Workflows and revision control of documents per the Woodward Quality System. Ensure documentation quality and consistency by adhering to established processes and continuously improving documentation practices.
  • Developing and Utilizing tools (CAD, PLM, multi media, etc.) to deliver clear, concise, and accurate Work Instructions.
  • Ability to identify if process steps are not in-line with Industry Best Practices for the assembly of mechanical components and Electrical Assembly Standards, to include documentation of proper PPE, Ergonomics, Environmental practices, and other Safety and quality aspects.

  • Proficient in Microsoft suite including Word and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, CAD (Creo) and PLM (Windchill) Software to create meaningful content (3d model explosions and animations, ...) for technical documents.

Tech Writer III

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Technical Documentation: Creates comprehensive manuals, guides, and reference materials that accurately describe complex technical processes and procedures. Development and Maintenance of Work Instructions and Assembly procedures for Complex Assembly and test processes. This includes developing tools and processes to deliver instructions via MES or similar documentation delivery systems.
  • Lead Documentation Projects: Coordinates and oversees documentation initiatives, providing subject matter guidance to team members to ensure timely and high quality deliverables. This includes developing and improving tools for use by others to develop meaningful content in support of consistent process execution.
  • Drive Cross Functional Teams: Partners with engineering, product, and other departments to gather information and ensure documentation aligns with organizational objectives.
  • Analyze and Resolve Documentation Issues: Identifies and addresses complex documentation challenges by gathering and analyzing relevant data to implement effective solutions.
  • Enhance Documentation Processes: Proposes and implements improvements to documentation tools, methods and workflows to increase efficiency and maintain high standards.
  • Ability to verify process steps are in-line with Industry Best Practices for the assembly of mechanical components and Electrical Assembly Standards, to include documentation of proper PPE, Ergonomics, Environmental practices, and other Safety and quality aspects.

  • Tech Writer II resolves atypical or infrequent documentation challenges using existing procedures.
  • Tech Writer III tackles unprecedented, complex documentation issues by analyzing data and implementing tailored solutions.

  • Tech Writer II focuses on adhering to and improving established documentation practices.
  • Tech Writer III actively proposes and implements new tools for creation and delivery of work (process) instructions.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Tech Writer II manages multiple documentation projects within defined parameters.
  • Tech Writer III oversees larger-scale initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and broader impacts.

Autonomy and Expertise:

  • Tech Writer II demonstrates initiative with limited supervision for new assignments.
  • Tech Writer III works independently, leveraging in-depth technical expertise and business acumen to influence decision-making processes.
