This position is responsible for: The Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for the execution of corrective and preventive maintenance activities on plant electrical and instrumentation systems within a chemical manufacturing environment.

What you will do:



  • Model Nutrien's core values of safety and integrity, lead and enable an inclusive culture in which you and your team are actively contributing to a safe work environment by utilizing Nutrien's culture of care.
  • Participate in job hazard analyses, safety meetings, and actively identify and report hazards and near misses.
  • Work safely in an industrial environment by following established procedures including application of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including calibrations, repairs, and documentation, in accordance with work orders, project requirements, and plant and industry standards.
  • Apply working knowledge of electronics, DCS, electricity, pneumatics, mechanics, math, and physics to diagnose and solve complex technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot, install, and maintain instrumentation and electrical systems including level, flow, pressure, temperature, and process control devices; control valves, transducers, positioners, switches, flow meters; and electrical equipment such as motors (up to 4160V), motor controls, and power distribution systems.
  • Perform control valve maintenance and repair, including disassembly, inspection, calibration, reassembly, and testing to ensure proper operation
  • Support commissioning and startup of new or modified equipment and control systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, test results, and equipment performance.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, one-line diagrams, loop sheets, wiring diagrams, interlock logic, and technical manuals to support accurate troubleshooting and repair.



What you will bring:



  • Associate's or Technical Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 1-5 years of experience in a chemical plant or refinery environment preferred.
  • ISA certification(s) or equivalent credentials preferred.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in process instrumentation, control loops, and motor control systems, and perform corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and proper installation of instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrated safety mindset and commitment to safe work practices in an industrial environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • High initiative, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic work environment, including response to on-call duty requirements.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow through hands-on experience and training opportunities.
