The Opportunity:

The Risk and Identity Solutions (RaIS) team is driving innovation in secure authentication experiences for customers and partners. As a Software Engineering Senior Team Lead, you will guide a talented engineering team delivering large-scale, mission-critical solutions for the Visa Consumer Authentication Service, which powers card-not-present transactions globally.

You will lead by example-contributing to design and code, mentoring engineers, and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and inclusion.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and mentor a team of 7+ software engineers (employees and contractors).
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across the development lifecycle.
  • Partner with Product and Architecture teams to define and deliver a scalable roadmap.
  • Build a culture of engineering excellence-focusing on quality, performance, security, and reliability.
  • Enhance team productivity through automation, modern tools, and GenAI.
  • Invest in the professional growth of your team and create an inclusive, supportive environment.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 + years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience. (This is the base BQ approved by legal )

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 + years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7+ relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field required or 3+ years of experience with a PhD
  • 2+ years of experience as a technical or team lead managing 7-10 direct reports.
  • Strong coding background in Java, Kubernetes, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Proven ability to improve productivity using automation or AI tools.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional, globally distributed teams.
  • Growth mindset, curiosity, and a drive to learn and apply new technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Docker).
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in UI/UX development is a plus.
  • MBA or leadership certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and developing diverse, high-performing teams.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 162,500.00 to 235,950.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
