Responsibilities

ECS Limited is hiring a Construction Materials Department Manager for our Fredericksburg office. In this role, you'll lead our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) team, manage field and lab staff, ensure quality project results, and help grow the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage field and lab projects from start to finish.
  • Lead a team of CMT engineers, project managers, and technicians.
  • Ensure all projects follow safety rules, quality standards, and CMT industry best practices.
  • Perform technical review of proposals, reports, and calculations.
  • Monitor budgets, track revenue, and report on financial performance.
  • Set team goals and support employee growth through training.
  • Support business development by building relationships with clients and engaging in the community.
  • Foster a positive, values-driven workplace culture that keeps employees engaged and motivated.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of related engineering experience, including conducting laboratory testing, construction observation, field quality assurance testing, site grading, and supervising construction materials testing.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of testing procedures and specifications.
  • Experience with budgets, forecasts, and financial management.

Required Education & Certifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university.

Preferred Education & Certifications:

  • MS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university.
