Job Summary
Do you have a desire to work in higher education? Do you want to assist students in navigating their career paths? This may be the job for you.
As a "Pre-Health Advisor," you will help prospective, current, and alumni students to enter health careers by discussing their motives and goals, discussing career opportunities, required coursework, and/or pre-professional experience. Advisors also edit students' professional school applications and write recommendation letters.
Training is provided for this role. Most of the work week will be helping students in person, by video, and by e-mail. The remainder will be training and projects. The selected candidate will be expected to work at UT Dallas full-time while training and, after 6 months, at least 3 days per week in the office with up to 2 days per week remote. Occasional evening or weekend availability required. Occasional travel required.

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • 4 years experience in or related to pre-health advising.
  • Knowledge and understanding of university policies and procedures, academic requirements, and campus resources.
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, and Adobe software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Dedication to helping students succeed.

Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

  • Advise students about educational options and resources.
  • Understand how to enter many health careers.
  • Help students plan interest-based curriculum and activities.
  • Respond to student emails in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Attend training sessions and professional development conferences.
  • Participate in student success initiatives.

Remote Work Notice:
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
