Job Summary
The Alliance Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and strengthening strategic alliance account relationships to drive business growth and market expansion. This role promotes the company's products, services, and capabilities to maximize customer sales potential and establish new alliance partnerships. The position is accountable for developing new accounts, documenting cost savings initiatives, coordinating demand generation strategies with preferred vendors, and effectively managing company sales and support resources to achieve strategic and financial objectives.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Meets or exceeds established Demand Generation goals through consistent, structured account planning and execution.
- Identifies, infiltrates, and grows current and prospective alliance accounts by developing new relationships, capabilities, and cross-sell opportunities.
- Researches, targets, and converts qualified prospects by identifying key influencers and positioning the company effectively against competitors.
- Aligns targeted opportunities with active promotions and new or expanded capabilities to strengthen alliance relationships.
- Documents all prospecting activities, opportunities, and customer interactions in company systems to ensure accurate pipeline visibility.
- Translates customer business objectives into differentiated company solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Stays current on company offerings, competitive advantages, and market trends to support strategic sales positioning.
- Guides high-potential accounts to appropriate senior contacts and coordinates company resources, marketing tools, and technical specialists to deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Ensures responsive, high-quality customer service by facilitating pricing, expediting, returns, and timely follow-up on inquiries and requests.
- Collaborates with internal teams and preferred vendors to develop and execute demand generation strategies that maximize sales and profitability.
- Provides feedback and strategic input to marketing, pricing, and purchasing teams regarding customer needs, competition, and market opportunities.
- Represents Border States at industry events and conferences to strengthen partnerships and uncover new alliance opportunities.
Non-essential Functions
- Travels to existing alliance branches to maintain up to date knowledge of Border States services and offerings.
- Leads and attends demand generation and product meetings, technical training programs, and trade shows, as required.
- Entertains clients as needed.
- Assists with special projects or initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing or trade degree with the equivalent in related work experiences within the Utility vertical, required.
- 3+ years of direct experience working for an Investor-Owned Utility (IOU).
- Proven successful experience with contract negotiation.
- Ability to professionally present in front of a large group.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English required.
- Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint), internet, email and SAP software.
