The Maintenance Technician I install, maintains, and repairs mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. Works alongside maintenance personnel and machine operators to take in or provide input and suggestions for equipment and tool changes. Communicates down machines and project status with management. Works on teams with hose fabrication team members to provide support for improvements within the facility. Communicates with outside maintenance services and fabricators. Familiar with email and search engines.

  1. Perform a wide range of general building and equipment maintenance, such as piping, welding, general electrical, carpentry, and metal fabrication.
  2. Fabricate simple tools.
  3. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on selected equipment as required.
  4. Enters and keeps work orders updated. Resolves maintenance issues in a timely manner and communicates concerns to the management team.
  5. Communicate with outside services, vendors, and contractors as needed.
  6. Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment as necessary.
  7. Maintains and replenishes spare parts inventory, orders tools and supplies.
  8. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.
  9. Disassemble, repair, and rebuild equipment (Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic).
  10. Install, move, setup, and level new/relocated equipment.
  11. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High-Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
  12. Identifies problem areas and safety hazards and works with the management and safety teams and associates to resolve.
  13. Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Parker regulations.
  14. Support and assist other maintenance personnel as directed by department supervisor.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education required:

Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent required.

Minimum of two years trade school or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience:

Experience with electrical work, wiring, and welding required

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  1. Excellent math and measuring skills necessary

  2. Sound decision making skills

  3. Strong trouble shooting skills

  4. Mechanical and maintenance experience required

  5. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, helpful

  6. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual and audio attention

  7. Good organization and PC skills

  8. Effective communicator

Skills/Competencies:

  1. Ability to read and use complicated drawings, diagrams, and specifications

  2. Use of electrical hand tools and associated electrical measuring devices. Experience with industrial equipment electrical systems, including P.L.C. controls and troubleshooting. Familiarity with N.E.C.

Other Skills:

Ability to work well in a team environment

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

  • Report directly to the Plant Manager

  • Work closely with all value stream team leads, shop floor employees, production control, and engineering.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee may be subject to:

  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.

  • Physical hazards from being around machines and moving items.

  1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection)

  2. Flexibility in working both at the desk and walking the shop floor.

  3. Overtime may be required.
