POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Kettle Coordinator

LOCATION/DEPT: Aurora Corps

REPORTS TO (TITLE): Corps Officers

FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

STATUS TYPE: TFT

PAY GRADE: 201

PAY RANGE: $15.00 - $18.53

OUTCOMES

To raise financial funds needed for services provided to individuals and families by the Corps of The Salvation Army.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Administrative

    1. Provide administrative support to Corps for Red Kettle Campaign.
    2. Interviews, recruits, screens, and selects bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively.
    3. Maintain database - Register-To-Ring - for recruitment of volunteers, locations of kettle sites, daily driver's routes, income entry and statistical reports for productivity.
    4. Plans, schedules, and assigns work of paid employees/staff.
    5. Coordinate communications between volunteers, staff, and kettle drivers.
    6. Utilize office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, copier, and money counting machines.


  2. Maintenance and Safety

    1. Building areas are kept clean and maintained that are designated for meetings.
    2. Identify and implement proper training tools for instruction in bellringing etiquette and Salvation Army protocol to all volunteers and staff.
    3. Maintain equipment utilized during bellringing season including, but not limited to, kettle stands/signs, bells, and assigned vehicles. This includes gas cards and mileage reports.


  3. Finance

    1. Inventory is accounted for at the beginning and ending of season. Report any broken equipment for replacement by the next season.
    2. Approval of expenses is required by Corps Officers prior to purchase.
    3. Create financial reports of all the kettles sites through Register-To-Ring including locations, days and dollars raised. Report to Corps Officers on a daily basis or as requested.
    4. Responsible for financial integrity of the kettles.


  4. Employees and Volunteers

    1. Employee records are kept confidential and processed through the DHQ HR Department with approval by Corps Officers before submission.
    2. Volunteer records are maintained on Register to Ring website.
    3. Maintain contact with staff and volunteers, answers questions, concerns, or problems. This includes Corps Officers as well.
    4. Generate enthusiasm by telling the story of The Salvation Army and the impact their participation has on the Christmas Red Kettle Campaign.


  5. Other Duties as needed.


RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to Corps Officers.

In contact related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASURMENTS

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals will be reviewed.

An evaluation of how effectively service is provided will be based on daily financial reports and profitability.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE



  • Minimum High School diploma.
  • Valid Driver's license/MVR clearance.

POSITION LIMITATIONS



  • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
  • This individual will keep the Corps Officers informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
  • This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT



  • This position is required to do moderate physical work and sit for extended periods of time in a motor vehicle and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and PC, stand for extended periods of time, communicate effectively, position self to stoop, kneel, or crouch; and frequently required to reach with use of hands and arms. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, and ability to focus.
  • The work environment for this position includes an office environment as well as outside environment (during winter months) with a low to high noise level.
  • Must be able to travel to various kettle locations.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients, and visitors; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.
