ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Goleta invites applications for the position of Library Page at Goleta Valley Library. The role of Library Page is integral to the success of everyday operations at the library. During a typical shift Pages complete routine tasks such as shelving materials and retrieving book drops. Throughout the year they also complete projects such as shifting collections, shelf reading, and assisting with program set-up. The ideal candidate will work well both independently and as part of a team, and will display thoroughness and keen attention to detail in the completion of their duties. The anticipated schedule is 15 hours per week including evenings and weekends.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Goleta Valley Library is a division of the Neighborhood Services Department. The Library provides a wide slate of programs for all ages, a variety of materials in all formats for borrowing by its users, and day-to-day customer service to its patrons. General areas of focus include: Administration, Collection Management and Cataloging, Circulation, Reference, Digital Services, Adult Programs, and Youth Programs. In addition to the Goleta Valley Library, the City of Goleta also manages the Buellton and Solvang Libraries. (Please note that the Goleta Valley Library building, located at 500 N. Fairview, is currently undergoing renovations and the library's operations have been temporarily relocated to the "GVL Express" location, at 6500 Hollister Avenue, Suite 105.)

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of manual tasks in support of library services.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Library Page is the entry-level class in the library support series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents perform a variety of routine manual support tasks. The Library Page helps to provide public access to library materials by ensuring that all library materials are readily available in an organized and accurate order.
This class is distinguished from Library Assistant in that the latter independently performs related entry-level clerical and circulation duties in support of library services.
This is a non-benefited, non-career at-will classification. Persons appointed to positions in this classification will be classified as temporary, at-will employees, and will not gain property rights. Incumbents will work no more than 15 hours per week.
