| Position Summary |
The Cameron and Arnold Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to investigate mechanisms of positive-strand
RNA virus genome replication. Specifically, the position will use biochemical, biophysical, and computational methods to understand structure-dynamics-function relationships of viral proteins and enzymes. In addition, this position will aim to develop technological advancements of a high-throughput microfluidics-based platform to perform kinetic analysis of viral infections in individual cells to enable use by the broader scientific community. The responsibilities include: (1) design, execute, and analyze cutting-edge experiments with minimal supervision; (2) collaborate with scientists at
UNC or elsewhere to develop new technologies; and (3) contribute substantively to the preparation of manuscripts for publication and presentations at scientific conferences. The postdoc will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with biochemists, virologists, enzymologists, structural biologists, microbiologists, and bioengineers. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Ph.D. degree in chemistry or related fields. |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Experience in membrane protein biochemistry, peptide chemistry, and computational modeling as demonstrated by a strong track record of publications in these areas. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Extensive expertise in diverse protein chemistry, synthetic chemistry, biophysics, computational, and structural modeling including molecular dynamics simulations, protein design, data visualization, and analytical techniques including optical spectroscopy and microscopy techniques, including fluorescence microscopy (e.g. quantitative live cell imaging). |
