PURCHASING MANAGER

SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN - WORLD HEADQUARTERS

As a member of the Purchasing team, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading global commodity team in all purchasing aspects.

Position Focus:



  • Provide direct oversight and ensure execution of strategic purchasing initiatives to support Operational and Financial Excellence for the company.
  • Develop and ensure delivery of annual Purchasing commitments to the affected business unit as well as support requirements needed to meet global Purchasing objectives.
  • Work as part of cross functional team with Operations, Engineering, Commercial/Program Management, Quality and Finance leadership to support strategic initiatives key to the business unit and company.
  • Oversee and lead supplier escalations critical to the performance of the company and business unit.
  • Ensure that themselves and the team operate in a manner consistent with the company's guidelines on ethics and compliance in managing its supplier relationships while meeting all financial, operational, or strategic objectives for the company.
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment for the organization that supports growth and development of supervised employees that is consistent with the company's guidelines and vision.



The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:



  • Ensures full compliance to corporate guidelines and requirements.
  • Ensures 100% delivery of financial commitments associated to purchasing objectives.
  • Continued oversight of key indicators for supplier risk, to ensure existing supply base can support both near term and long-term requirements.
  • Ensure that the developed and executed strategies by the team are attainable and sustainable to achieve the annual and long-range commitments.
  • Promote and ensure data driven analysis and negotiating techniques to achieve optimal performance.
  • Create partnerships with key cross functional Senior Leaders in Finance, Commercial/Program Management, Operations and Quality to promote a collaborative environment with Purchasing and support key initiatives to the company.
  • Ensure on driving total cost management concepts within all sourcing decisions and day to day requirements.
  • Ensure focused initiatives on SCTO and Material Harmonization are met using all available tools and resources (e.g. - Foundry, etc.)
  • Strong business acumen with ability to incorporate strategies that serve both short- and long-term needs for the company.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team into high performing team members that will continue to ensure sustainable growth within the organization.



Your Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Requires minimum 3-5 years' work experience. Automotive cross-functional experience a plus.
