The Product Security team ensures that Snowflake products are built and shipped with the highest level of security. Our team drives the security posture of Snowflake products and is responsible for embedding security into every stage of the product lifecycle, from design through deployment and beyond. We design and build frameworks, systems and services that keep Snowflake secure.

As a Principal Software Engineer on the Product Security team, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping and advancing Snowflake's security. This is a unique opportunity to define and influence our long-term security strategy and have a direct impact on the security of the Snowflake platform and the trust of our customers.

AS A PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL:
  • Design and develop scalable, secure-by-default frameworks, services and tools that underpin Snowflake's infrastructure and ensure our customers' data and accounts are secure.

  • Anticipate and proactively address emerging security risks, defining long-term mitigation strategies aligned with business and product goals.

  • Define and drive security architecture across the platform, focusing on key areas such as authentication, authorization, data protection, and software supply chain security.

  • Partner with product and engineering teams to implement security best practices.

  • Mentor engineers, influence engineering culture, and promote a strong security mindset across the company.

OUR IDEAL PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER WILL HAVE:
  • 15+ years of industry experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale distributed systems and cloud services.

  • Expertise in different security areas such as identity and access management, secret management, applied cryptography, secure system design, and cloud security.

  • Experience in software development working with one or more of the following languages: Java, Go, Python, C, C++

  • A track record of technical execution and technical leadership.

  • A track record for mentoring and guiding senior and staff engineers.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work on-site at our Menlo Park, CA or Bellevue, WA offices.

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $243,000 - $379,500.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; at least 12 paid holidays; paid time off; parental leave; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
