Talent Development Specialist

Position location is flexible and may office from any Fastenal location in the Region

Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:30am - 5:00pm

OVERVIEW:

Working as a Full-time Talent Development Specialist, you will work closely with the Recruiting team, the Fastenal School of Business (FSB) team, Human Resources, Regional Vice President, District Managers, and General/Market Managers in the region to enhance employee skills, performance, and career growth. This is a new position supporting Branch and Onsite personnel to thrive in their current roles while preparing them for future opportunities. Supporting onboarding, orientation, and employee development, this position plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of continuous learning that inspires employees to reach their full potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

o Leading and supporting aspects of the employee lifecycle, such as onboarding, orientation, career development, and employee retention

o Developing and implementing a strategy to build relevant experiences, tools, and resources that aid skill development and on-the-job learning

o Facilitating in-person and online new hire orientation sessions and producing recommendations for continuous improvement and maintenance of orientation materials

o Working with FSB Advisors to manage learning management system (LMS) to track participation and completion rates

o Coordinating role-based learning and development experiences for early career talent and existing employees throughout the region

o Executing and supporting projects based on employee feedback surrounding key focus areas, such as orientation, experiential learning, and career growth

o Creating and implementing programs, initiatives, providing performance support, and communications that promote a culture of empowering employees

o Building and maintaining strong relationships with leaders, co-workers, and other stakeholders cross-functionally to ensure alignment and collaboration on key objectives

o Staying up to date on trends and best practices related to employee engagement, development, and continuous learning

o Being a champion of our culture, encourager, and motivator to inspire new hires and teams

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:

o 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work

o Possess a current full valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as needed

o Possess a degree in Business, Marketing, or Human Resources OR have 2 years of related work experience

o Excellent oral and written communication skills

o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities

o Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a sense of urgency

o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

o Possess strong presentation skills with the ability to speak in front of large groups of people

o Highly motivated, self-directed and customer service oriented

o Work independently as well as in a team environment

o Willingness to travel up to 20%-30%

o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork

o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

o Possess knowledge of employee development technology resources and an understanding of the benefits of employee engagement

o Possess experience creating programs that enhance employee onboarding, orientation, experiential learning, career development, and employee retention

FULL-TIME BENEFITS:

Fastenal offers a competitive benefits package to all full-time employees. This package includes Health, Life, Long Term Disability, and Dental Insurance, in addition to, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and 401(k) with an employer contribution.

COMPENSATION:

The base pay range for this position is $55,000 - 70,000. In addition to base pay, this position is also eligible for a bonus and/or commission.
