Position Description
Responsible for providing support and information to supervision, external and internal auditors as well as customers both inside and outside of Santee Cooper. Responsible for recording, reconciling, reviewing, classifying and summarizing accounting information as prescribed by corporate policy, generally accepted accounting principles, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), FASB, GASB and NARUC. Should be a self-starter and possess a medium level of accounting knowledge and have the ability to apply that knowledge in the discipline assigned. May lead and direct the work of an Accountant I. Accountants may be rotated through the various accounting areas. Responsible for applying continuous improvement to all aspects of the job.
Essential Tasks
Prepare and record various entries of a moderate complexity by compiling and analyzing account information. Maintain appropriate documentation and support for all journal entries. Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts of a moderate complexity to the appropriate sub-system(s) and/or source information. Develop and maintain appropriate documentation and support for reconciliations. Identify and resolve noted variances in a timely fashion. Responsible for maintaining procedures for each key process which includes any process improvement in terms of accuracy and/or efficiency. Reports and summarizes financial information for internal departments, governmental agencies, benchmarking studies as well as internal, external and Central audits. Completes verification of assigned sections of the monthly financial statements for accuracy. Analyze and review capital, billable, reimbursable and O&M projects and prepare and record journal entries or expense transfers when necessary. Works with the project managers and other accounting and engineering personnel to ensure that cost, in-service dates or invoices to customers are correct. Analyzes reconciled construction projects of a more complex nature and unitizes capital construction costs to proper regulatory accounts.

Business Degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting or Business with 21 hours of accounting + 5 years experience required.
Compensation Information
$82,520 - $103,140 (min. - mid.)
Accountant II
Business Degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting or Business with 21 hours of accounting + 2 years of experience.
Compensation Information
$66,390 - $82,980 (min. - mid.)
