Position Summary

Waste Connections is seeking a strategic and driven recruiting leader to build and sustain a long-term talent pipeline for our post-collection operations, including landfills and recycling facilities. This role will focus on identifying and attracting leadership and technical engineering talent, developing internship and college recruiting programs, and partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with our operational needs and goals. This position is located in our corporate office located in The Woodlands, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Strategy & Pipeline Development

  • Design and execute a long-term recruiting strategy to attract leadership and engineering talent for post-collection assets.
  • Build relationships with universities, technical schools, and industry organizations to create a sustainable pipeline of early-career and experienced candidates.
  • Develop and manage internship programs with clear learning outcomes, timelines, and conversion goals.
  • Partner with corporate and region engineering, region recruiting managers, hiring managers and operational leaders to forecast talent needs and align recruiting efforts with business priorities.

Recruitment Execution

  • Personally and through our existing team of recruiters, source, screen, and engage candidates for leadership and technical roles in landfill and recycling operations.
  • Leverage multiple channels including job boards, social media, employee referrals, and industry organizations,
  • Ensure a seamless candidate experience from application through onboarding, aligned with our employment brand and values.

Program Management & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the Corporate and Region teams to ensure consistency and scalability of recruiting programs.
  • Track and report key metrics such as % openings filles, retention and intern conversion rates.
  • Partner with HR and Training to support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of recruiting experience, including technical or engineering talent acquisition.
  • Proven success in building internship or early-career programs.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with ATS platforms and recruiting analytics.
  • Knowledge of landfill, recycling, or post-collection operations preferred.
