Position Overview

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring a professional, compassionate, and efficient experience during specimen collection. This role involves drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing them for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures. The PSR I builds trust and confidence with patients by clearly explaining procedures, maintaining confidentiality, and performing all tasks with precision and care.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and professional work environment
  • Collect and process forensic and clinical specimens in accordance with established standards and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all work performed
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, clients, and coworkers
  • Demonstrate commitment to organizational goals and uphold a positive, professional image
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards


Job Requirements

  • Ability to perform quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional work ethic


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
  • Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required


Additional Job Details

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and every Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • This position is not eligible for remote work
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required
  • Candidates must reside within a 20-25-minute commute of the worksite and have reliable transportation (bus, rideshare, or Uber not considered reliable)
  • Must consistently arrive on time, remain for the entire shift, and maintain dependable attendance; excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
  • Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume; pay rate is based on years of direct experience
  • Bilingual candidates must demonstrate full proficiency in both English and Spanish
