Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) provides professional, high-quality patient care through specimen collection, processing, and front office support. This role represents the organization in a patient-facing capacity, ensuring accuracy, safety, and confidentiality while maintaining a welcoming and efficient environment. The PSR II draws and processes blood specimens following established procedures and may also perform front office (FOH) duties, including patient intake and administrative support. Successful applicants may work in a physician's office, patient service center, or other assigned locations as needed. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily specimen collection and processing duties accurately and efficiently under the direction of the area supervisor
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment at all times
Conduct both forensic and clinical specimen collection following established procedures and quality standards
Verify patient demographic information, initials, and signatures post-venipuncture to ensure correct labeling and identification
Complete required documentation and maintain accurate specimen records
Provide professional, courteous customer service to patients, clients, and coworkers
Demonstrate confidentiality, professionalism, and organizational commitment
Perform front office duties as needed, including patient check-in, data entry, and administrative support
Travel to other locations as required for coverage, sometimes with short notice
Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures, including health, safety, and dress code standards
Job Requirements
Ability to perform accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
Flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (if applicable)
Ability to make sound decisions using established procedures and good judgment
Capable of managing multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
Demonstrates adaptability, teamwork, and a strong customer focus
Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
At least 2 years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required
Additional Job Details
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)
This position is not eligible for remote work
COVID-19 vaccination not required
No state-specific credentials or licenses required
Reliable personal transportation required (bus, Uber, or rideshare services are not considered reliable)
Must arrive on time, remain for the full shift, and maintain consistent attendance-excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
Candidate will perform both front office and phlebotomy duties as needed
