ABOUT THE JOB

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for coordinating all purchasing activities for the business unit. This includes analyzing inventory levels across the company to maximize inventory efficiencies and directing and transferring inventory from various warehouse locations to sales locations.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE




  • Develops policies and procedures regarding purchasing systems.
  • Attends vendor meetings relating to special programs, prices, etc.
  • Prepares information relating to purchasing, pricing and special programs for Division Managers.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
  • Prepares market analysis reports including completing annual purchase forecasts and monthly inventory and turnover goals for the business units.
  • Develops processes and communicates early order programs for the business units including special programs through the regional and corporate offices.
  • Performs accounting work and other highly analytical duties to support the accounting system and manages reporting for business unit leadership.
  • Manages business unit distribution systems in conjunction with the Assistant Purchasing Manager to ensure optimum levels of supplies while managing the lowest interest and freight transfer charges.
  • Manages the allocation of limited resale materials.
  • Manages other members of the team.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is required.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE




  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Five years of purchasing experience or related field is required.
  • Leadership experience is required.
  • Experience may be considered in lieu of education.



SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS




  • Decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Prioritizes and works on multiple tasks.
  • Reads and understands financial statements.
  • Ability to travel by various means up to 10% of the time is required.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle and Discover is preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
  • Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.
  • Valid US driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle.
  • Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required.



Successful completion of a drug screen and background check is required for all positions at Helena.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB

The work environment for this position is that of a typical office environment where the noise level is mostly quiet. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 10 pounds.
