Job Summary |
Provide developing skills in surface preparation, application of different types of caulking and sealants, and detection and repair of water leaks on flat or metal roofs. Work with power tools and heavy equipment. Understand the basics of glazing windows. Replace ceiling tiles and ceiling grid. Repair or replace classrooms furniture. Repair or replace hardware in bathroom stalls. |
Minimum Education and Experience |
High School diploma or
GED and a 1 year experience in job related repair work. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record and
OSHA 10-Hour Training, or ability to complete within 6 months of employment. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
- Vocational/Technical Diploma or some College/Associate's Degree
OSHA 10-Hour Training, or ability to complete within 6 months of employment- 1 year of construction
- 1 -3 years of Waterproofing
- 1 -3 years of Caulking
- 1 -3 years of Ceiling tile replacement
- 1 -3 years of Water leak detection and repair
- 1 -3 years of Window glazing

Other Qualifications |
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Detect and repair water leaks on flat roofs, metal roofs, window sills, window frames, metal flashing, and wall joints. Remove and apply caulking and sealants materials. Maintain all building rooftops.
- Replace damaged ceiling tiles and ceiling grid. Replace hardware in bathroom stalls, and repair or replace window blinds and shades. Repair or replace classroom furniture.
- Assist other shops, and other duties as assigned.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.

Work Notice: Work will be performed on site and in-person. May be required to report to on-site work location during campus closure.
