Summary: The Team Lead is a responsible member of the OR Leadership team who uses available resources to meet physician and customer needs. Role reflects a balance between management and clinical practice. Works with OR Supervisor/Director to promote a team environment and maintains good communication with Director, Supervisor, Surgeons and Staff. CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline overlooking Corpus Christi Bay is the largest and foremost acute care medical facility in the region, with a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. It is the leading emergency facility in the area with a Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency services.
- The Pavilion and North Tower house a state-of-the-art emergency department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab and surgical suites
- A teaching facility in affiliation with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine
- Accredited Chest Pain Center
- Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team
Responsibilities:
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Under the direction of the Peri-op Services Director/OR RN Lead/Charge Nurse, performs all processes that relate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior, during and after any surgical procedure.
- As the lead First Assist for a service line, provides leadership, education, direction, support and facilitation for improving operational efficiencies within specific service.
- Includes care preparation, surgeon preferences, instrumentation, turn-over times and inventory management.
- Daily collaboration with OR RN Lead.
- Is a mentor/coach for orientees within that service line.
Job Requirements: Education/Skills
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Graduation from accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or School of Surgical Technology required
Experience
- 2 years of Surgical Tech experience required
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- BLS required
- Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant required
- ACLS preferred
