Charleston, WV - Filling industrialCraigsville, WV - Retail shop, Parkersburg, WV - Staunton - Filling industrial, Shinnston, WV - Filling industrial How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The primary function is to assist the area safety manager in the implementation and development of driver training programs, safety procedures and policies to reduce accidents, prevent loss and establish safe working conditions. Implement programs for training and continued education of existing employees.
  • Promote and develop safe work behaviors. Assist and coach in reducing injuries and vehicle accidents.

  • Assist in accident investigations and preventable accident follow-up.

  • Execute the Smith Training program for new and existing employees that operate a vehicle for the company.

  • Coordinate and conduct Time Log Training (Hours of Service).

  • Administer road test and truck inspection for commercial drivers. Reviews driver's road test to ensure driver meets company and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform HM 126F and Security training for drivers and branch personnel.

  • Assists in conducting audits of drivers, vehicles and maintenance facilities.

  • Train personnel that operate forklift in proper operation, inspection and maintenance of forklifts

  • Ensure that locations maintain the proper vehicle maintenance, driver vehicle inspection and log file.

  • Assure all applicable DOT training is performed at all locations.

  • Act as a mentor and drive with drivers on a random basis.

  • Assist Area Safety Manager in month end Safety meetings and data/presentations, which also include compliance presentations at branches, plants, and customer locations.

  • Assist in creating training development (i.e. videos, power point).

  • Willingness to travel 50-65% of the time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Class A or B CDL with HazMat endorsement and airbrakes.

  • Industry and related product knowledge as well as experience handling compressed gases preferred. Some college education preferred.

  • 3 years of experience in the Industrial gas or related industry.

  • Intermediate proficiency of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Working knowledge of Safety and OSHA regulations preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to demonstrate a clear and effective speaking manner for the purpose of interpreting and explaining related information and/or policies to employees.

  • Ability to demonstrate a clear and concise writing style for the purpose of preparing documents for internal and external distribution.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Willing to improve skills and techniques by attending classes on employee's own time.

  • Must be able to work overtime when necessary.

  • Frequent sitting, bending, and standing up to 90%.

  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
