Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Registered Nurse to support safe, patient-centered care that promotes healing.
- Applies basic knowledge and skills to effectively communicate and perform delegated tasks for patients under RN supervision.
- Obtains and documents vital signs accurately.
- Monitors and reports patient conditions regularly and prior to shift completion, notifying appropriate staff of any concerns.
- Promptly responds to patient call lights.
- Assists patients with mobility and basic activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living.
- Assists with maintaining a clean, safe and organized environment for both patients and staff.
- Participates in Purposeful Hourly Rounding and Bedside Shift Reports.
- Measures and records patient intake and output and other routine measurements, as directed by the RN.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of approved CNA/PCT certification program or enrolled as a student with less than one semester left in an approved certification program or 6 months of previous experience in a specialty tech position.
- For emergency room departments, an EMT Basic certification may substitute for CNA/PCT certification; paramedic license may fulfill certification requirements.
- Must maintain active certification in the State of Kansas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in acute or long-term care settings.
- Experience in Med-Surg Nursing or Emergency Room (ER) departments.
