Job Title: Occupational Health Nurse

Location: Tampa, FL 33637

Duration: 6 Months (Temp to Hire)

Brief Job Description: Occupational health nurse supporting the Tampa manufacturing site and associated locations. The nurse will provide triage for work related injuries, direct and coordinate care with local occupational health clinic, assist with site health and wellness program, monitor and communicate STD, FMLA, and work-related absences and medical restrictions. Perform medical surveillances for vision, respiratory, audiograms and others as needed.

Preferred Background: 3-5 years of experience in Occupational Health setting.

Abilities to complete medical surveillances such as vision screenings, respirator exams, audiograms, and physical exams.

Understanding of workers compensation law. Understanding of OSHA work relatedness and injury recordability.

Occupational Health Nurse - OHN A registered nurse who functions as the occupational health nurse for a facility and is responsible to administer occupational health services.

The occupational health nurse assesses the health needs of the employee, population and worksite.

He/She will ensure health programs are in accordance to Company Policy, Standards and applicable laws.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Administer first aid and CPR in the event of medical emergencies. Supervise plant first aid coverage and training.

2. Provide initial assessment of on-the-job injuries or non-occupational illnesses and refer for further evaluation as necessary.

3. Coordination of administrative and medical case management for workers compensation/injury management or non-occupational disability programs inclusive of first report of injury, coordination of medical care, case follow up, liaison with internal staff/external health care providers and insurance administrators.

4. Manage transitional return to work activities, identifying alternative modified work options and monitor to optimized full duty status. May need to complete job analysis within the scope of nursing assessments.

5. Coordinate and monitor medical surveillance programs, i.e. audiograms, eye exams, etc. as required by company standards.

6. Partner with Environment, Health + Safety on injury/illness prevention, training and communication programs i.e. blood borne pathogen, CPR/first aid, etc.

7. Coordinate health promotion/wellness programs.

8. Conduct pre-placement questionnaires review fitness for duty evaluations.

9. Collaborate with management on compatible goals and objectives. Participate in meetings regarding issues of health and safety, such as: accident investigation, risk management, ergonomics, and health promotion.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current state registered nurse license to practice in the state of employment.

A baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.

3-5 years of experience at occupational health nursing in an occupational health manufacturing setting.

Experience in community health, ambulatory care, critical care or emergency nursing preferred.

Ability to work with a team and/or independently.

Certifications in occupational health nursing, case management and basic life support preferred.

Ability to make independent nursing judgements, perform basic physical assessments, problem solve, and have strong time management skills.

Strong computer, verbal and written skills to communicate.

Good time management, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work assignments.Position is offered by a no fee agency.
