Principal Engineer I - Full Stack Developer

What you'll do:

As Principal Engineer I, you will provide advanced expertise in a suite of technical tools and products across multiple domains. You will identify development and support needs, take on design responsibilities supporting CI/ CD tasks, and lead the implementation of innovative solutions. As Principal Engineer I, you will facilitate and drive team collaboration, including cross-functional teams, and mentor more junior engineers to ensure successful delivery of product functionality.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both front-end and back-end development, with a strong focus on the .NET framework and expertise in database development with SQL Server. This person will lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality, scalable, and secure applications. Additionally, they will provide technical leadership, mentor more junior engineers, and drive innovation within the team.

This position is ONSITE only and you must be located in or within a commutable distance from Columbus, OH.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior engineers and lead technical discussions and decisions.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT driven projects and technical enablers and enhancements.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure applications using the .NET framework and SQL Server.
  • Create responsive front-end interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks, HTML, and CSS.
  • Develop and maintain APIs.
  • Design, implement, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Ensure application performance, scalability, and security.
  • Design application performance monitoring metrics.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures, while ensuring compliance with IT policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Address complex technical challenges and provide solutions that enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Lead root cause analysis for incidents to identify and address underlying issues.

What you'll need:

  • 8+ years of experience in full-stack web development in .NET framework.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Expertise in C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and API design and development.
  • Strong experience with front-end technologies like Angular, React, Typescript, Rest, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with source code version control systems (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience working with MS Azure technologies and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and experience with system architecture and design.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
  • Experience with low code-no code or workflow technology tools is preferred.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced to expert experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously with an established expertise in one or more key domains of the bank (Deposits, Loans, Operations or Reporting)with the ability to walk through top level process design. Capable of working with regulatory partners like the CFPB, OCC and FRB through audits and collaboration efforts as situations arise.
  • Advanced to expert familiarity with the capability model across IT and the applications and infrastructures available for engagement in solutioning across the bank to develop results that leverage existing capabilities in addition to implementing new solutions when required. Experience in the design, enhancement and compliance to all governance frameworks across the IT organization to ensure proper compliance to published procedures and standards.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
