Job Description

Job Summary:



Understand, improve, and tightly execute Quality related processes to support delivery of product, improve customer satisfaction, and achieve internal business goals. Plan for and ensure the quality of product through collaborative partnerships with customers, suppliers and internal departments.



This is a hands-on role that works with a team of engineers, technicians and inspectors that are engaged through the entire life cycle of product, starting during development, continuing with transitioning of product to manufacturing, and then supporting the continuous manufacture of product.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Prevent defects through use of process, supplier, manufacturing, and quality controls.
  • Develop and implement product quality plans, PFMEA, PPVs, control plans, etc.
  • Ensure product compliance through a comprehensive set of functional tests and inspections.
  • Participate in the qualification of new suppliers and internal processes.
  • Understand sources of variation in the supply chain, manufacturing & test processes and control them.
  • Assist in the evaluation and improvement of manufacturing processes, through lean concepts and APQP.
  • Lead robust 8D root-cause and corrective action, working with engineering, suppliers and customers.
  • Effectively review, implement, and flow down changes (ECOs) into manufacturing and the supply chain, including material disposition actions.
  • Execute processes for non-conforming material and the efficient management of MRB.
  • Drive effective failure analysis, and responsive communication to customers.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement of product and process throughout the organization. Drive effective corrective action.
  • Monitor, measure and communicate metrics (KPIs) on a predicted cadence.
  • Review customer scorecards and ensure alignment of improvement initiatives to customer satisfaction.
  • Interface and communicate with customers regularly, providing quality status as required.
  • Promote adherence to the Quality Management System (AS9100), and drive improvements.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and provide results.
  • Facilitate Quality Clinics with Engineering and Production to monitor production yields and drive improvement actions
  • Develop and Maintain visible Quality KPI's and associated actions (COPQ, FPY, DPPM)
  • Support Industry QMS Standards by conducting periodic internal assessments to AS9100; develop, monitor, and re-define internal operating procedures where needed.
  • Monitor and Drive COPQ initiatives, Scrap Reduction, Escapes, Rework
  • Address production-related Quality issues as they arise, utilizing 8D methodology for RCCA
  • Assist with ESD, Environmental Control and FOD Programs as necessary.
  • Development of Manufacturing Quality Plans based on customer SOW.
  • Support First-Article Inspections as required.


Required Qualifications:



  • BS in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in a quality or process engineering position for complex aerospace programs and systems. PCBAs, or related product experience, is a plus.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and across departments and the company to support organization strategies.
  • Ability to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant quality standards, methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of fault trees and statistical process control.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization, supporting multiple products and projects.
  • Experience with Agile PLM (or similar), Oracle, SolidWorks, Jira, and Jama software, is a plus.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proven record of initiative, problem solving and the ability to recognize and implement improvements.
