Position Summary:
In partnership with IT and Hospital leadership teams, the Epic Manager is responsible for the delivery of high-quality technology solutions, via the Epic platform, that meet or exceed the needs of our clinical and business users. Will be accountable for maintaining and supporting highly reliable systems and for providing quality service to our stakeholders. Additionally, the manager is responsible for product strategy, roadmaps and metrics, within their solution scope, to ensure BCH continues to be an early adopter of new technology offerings. The manager must partner with stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure the successful launch, scale and adoption of Epic solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a business partner/consultant, proactively engages with internal clients and stakeholders to understand their current and future operational needs. Conducts extensive technology and operational analyses to identify root causes of complex problems. Monitors assignments of team, guiding them through project-based work and interactions with supported areas and end-users.
  • Guides analysts through the design, build/configuration, testing, and deployment of the team's core Epic applications, features, and integrations with other supported systems/applications. Performs advanced configuration (or customization, as necessary) to address business needs. Performs or leads unit system testing, integrated testing, and specialty application testing.
  • Manages implementation of core application changes with third-party systems to ensure integration. Assesses or guides others in the assessment of significant integration requirements for the team's core Epic applications. Identifies and recommends need for changes or customizations to the vendor application and other integration elements. Maintains, upgrades, and tests all third-party integrations.
  • Keeps abreast of how the application is being used in other organizations to identify opportunities for optimization, enhancements, etc. Proposes significant optimizations and enhancements to supported applications to department management for near-term consideration by internal clients and to influence the organization's future use of Epic.
  • Manages the team's efforts in support of upgrades. Coordinates with Project Management to establish team's deliverables for upgrade tasks and assigned release notes. Communicates major milestones to the team and customers and manages the team's resource allocations and priorities to meet these deadlines. Escalates to project and senior management as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required. An associate's degree with 2 years of related experience or high school diploma/GED with an additional 4 years of related experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in EHR application, implementation and/or support, including responsibility for complex builds and integrations required. Experience managing multiple EHR applications through the full lifecycle of implementation to go-live to optimization.
  • Significant experience in the operational area being supported: Inpatient, Ambulatory, billing/finance, registration/scheduling, etc., demonstrating an understanding of the unique challenges of the groups supported and the knowledge and ability to help them shape and optimize their operational processes.

Licensure/ Certifications:

  • Epic certification in 1-2 applications required, Epic Cupid certification highly preferred.
  • BCH will train incumbents as needed.
