The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Pension & Benefits, the Pension and Benefits Analyst supports the administration and the execution of TC Energy's retirement and benefits programs for U.S. employees.
This role will collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and consultants to ensure accurate processing, compliance, and continuous improvement of benefit-related processes.

What you'll do

  • Administer U.S. benefit programs, including retirement/pension, medical, dental, spending accounts, life, disability, and other ancillary plans for both union and non-union employees.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, consultants, and third-party administrators to ensure effective service delivery and plan performance.
  • Support benefit plan design and annual enrollment activities, including Workday configuration, user acceptance testing (UAT), and employee communications.
  • Oversee data flows and carrier file feeds; collaborate with the Workday team to implement system updates and resolve file errors.
  • Reconcile and process vendor payments, benefit payments, and payroll deductions.
  • Resolve escalated service issues with external providers; identify trends and recommend improvements to enhance the employee experience.
  • Respond to employee and vendor inquiries; support annual enrollment, wellness events, and cross-functional HR initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other HR team members on cross-functional projects to improve the efficiency of current and/or new processes and procedures.
  • Streamline and document administrative procedures; identify and implement process and system improvements.
  • Support TC Energy's retirement and benefit programs to ensure adherence to our total rewards philosophy, alignment with competitive market practices and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Maintain and update Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) and plan documents to ensure accuracy, compliance with federal and state regulations, and alignment with plan design changes.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and vendor partners to draft, review, and distribute required documentation in a timely manner. Research current trends and assist with industry retirement and benefit survey requirements.
  • Coordinate and serve as the primary contact for on-site health fairs and wellness events, in collaboration with the Health Services team.
  • Participate in ongoing training and learning opportunities, as well as projects or initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. CEBS or related credentials is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in pension, 401(k) and health benefits experience within a large, complex corporate environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Solid understanding of federal and state regulations governing benefits plans, including ERISA, DOL, IRS, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
  • Experience supporting compliance activities such as non-discrimination testing, Form 5500 filings, and financial audits.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Problem solver with critical thinking skills including an aptitude to adapt to change and thrive in a dynamic and complex organization.
  • Self-motivated and collaborative, with a continuous improvement mindset and a strong team orientation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capability to manage and convey information clearly across various levels of the organization.
  • Consistently deliver exceptional customer service with the ability to resolve inquiries in an effective and timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Canadian and Mexico benefits is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with Workday, SAP, and ServiceNow is preferred; a strong willingness to learn new tools and systems is essential.
