Purpose

This position serves as the primary HR resource for departments within the CNS Deans Office, overseeing a range of human resources functions and ensuring the smooth execution of HR processes.

Responsibilities

1. Human Resources Support & Operations: Partner with Dean's Office departments to deliver proactive, strategic, and responsive HR services.

  • Act as approver for Workday business processes related to staff and student employment.

  • Support recruitment efforts including posting jobs, coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates, and advising managers on hiring best practices.

  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes in compliance with university policies.

2. Payroll & Timekeeping Oversight: Advise employees on timekeeping procedures to ensure accuracy and policy adherence.

  • Monitor and follow up on timesheet completion, process vacation payouts, overtime, and other payments.

  • Conduct periodic reviews to improve payroll/timekeeping practices and recommend enhancements.

3. Training, Special Projects, & Employee Support:

  • Contribute to the development of HR tools, resources, and training initiatives.

  • Support special projects leveraging HR expertise to drive effective outcomes.

  • Respond to HR-related inquiries and provide referrals to campus resources as needed

4. Performance Management Support: Advise supervisors on performance expectations, coaching strategies, development plans, and corrective action protocols.

5. Flexible Work Arrangements (FWA): Advise employees and supervisors on FWA policies and procedures. Review and process FWA requests and maintain related documentation.

6. Records Management & Compliance: Maintain personnel files and sensitive records in accordance with privacy laws and university policies. Develop and update documentation and materials that support HR functions and promote policy compliance.

7. HR Research & Analysis: Conduct research to resolve HR-related issues, enhance service delivery, and ensure compliance with regulations and CNS guidelines. Recommend process improvements based on data and analysis.

8. Additional Duties: Perform other related functions as assigned to support the CNS Dean's Office and its HR operations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a human resources administrative function. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate a wide range of administrative tasks and shifting priorities with precision, confidentiality, and professionalism.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven commitment to providing responsive and customer-focused HR support.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team, exercising sound judgement and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Human Resources certification or demonstrated commitment to professional development through coursework or training in HR-related fields

  • Prior experience within a higher education institution.

  • Proficiency in commonly used business applications (i.e. Workday) and familiarity with employment policies specific to the University of Texas at Austin.

  • Ability to proactively assess departmental needs and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Must be eligible to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
