Technology Protection Systems Engineer

LOCATION: Huntsville, AL

JOB STATUS: Full-time

CLEARANCE: Secret

TRAVEL: As Needed

Join Astrion in Huntsville and play a critical role in protecting our nation's airspace by designing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge network and communication systems for Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS). We are seeking a high-impact CUAS Systems Engineering SME with a proven track record in safeguarding defense technologies and systems. In this role, you will drive the design, evaluation, and integration of CUAS platforms with an emphasis on protecting sensitive technologies from exploitation, reverse engineering, and adversarial compromise. You will work at the intersection of engineering, cybersecurity, operational security, and acquisition to ensure mission-critical solutions remain secure and resilient.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance (Active TS/SCI preferred)

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline

Experience: 15+ years of experience in defense systems engineering, with emphasis on CUAS or ISR technologies

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Technology Protection, Anti-Tamper integration, and Program Protection Planning
  • Familiarity with DoD architecture frameworks, acquisition policies, and supply chain risk management
  • Strong analytical and communications skills with ability to lead technical reviews and brief senior leadership

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the technical authority for CUAS system architecture and technology protection strategies
  • Lead efforts in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities across hardware, software, and communication interfaces
  • Integrate Anti-Tamper (AT), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and cybersecurity protections into system design
  • Assess risk from supply chain threats and propose safeguarding measures during development and sustainment phases
  • Support Technology Protection Planning for acquisition programs and generate compliance documentation (e.g., DD254, Program Protection Plans)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in intelligence, cybersecurity, and program security to shape protective engineering requirements
  • Advise on exportability, foreign disclosure risks, and critical component protection
