Airport Operations Specialist

We are looking for a dynamic, organized, self-starter to join our team as Aviation Operations Specialist at Bult Field Airport near Monee, Illinois. Highlights of Bult Field Airport include:

• owned and operated by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics
• airport operations office is located in the beautiful lodge style terminal building that boasts a picturesque great room, military museum, furnished conference room, theater, stocked kitchenette and kitchen, several office spaces with private restrooms, and an outdoor covered patio with seating
• general aviation and corporate aviation airport with 139 hangars, 90 based aircraft including 76 single engine and 8 multi-engine airplanes, three helicopters and three sport aircraft
• Encompasses approximately 120 acres of non-fenced farmland and woodland, and is included within approximately 4,300 acres of State-owned land
• 5,000 ft concrete runway 09-27 with full concrete parallel taxiway and connectors and large tie down apron

Position Profile

Acting on behalf the State of Illinois, this position will be involved in all of the operating aspects of Bult Field and surrounding IDOT properties with public interactions on a daily basis. Work is accomplished through interactions with Hanson and its subcontractors involved with aircraft operations, buildings and field maintenance, tenant, and public relations, coordinating subcontractor requirements, reviewing airport tenant actives to ensure compliance with agreements, supervising and enforcement of aircraft air and ground traffic regulations, and engaging in airport financial and planning activities. The Airport Operations Specialist will work with the onsite staff at Bult Field daily and will report to both the project manager and technical manager located in Springfield, IL.

What We're Looking For

We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:

• Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local aviation rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of airport maintenance and requirements including supplies, materials, and equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-Starter attitude that can drive efforts of a team to successful outcomes.
• Candidate will have the ability to analyze and report on operating conditions and develop, recommend, and implement appropriate solutions.

Education/Experience:

• 4 year degree in Aviation or Business management or related field of study is preferred
• Prior managerial experience of 5+ years at an airport may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Working at Hanson:

• Interacts with other offices in Illinois and across the country.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime to meet project demands and deadlines
• Though likely infrequent, must be willing to travel for short-term out-of-town meetings, events

The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $65,000 per year. Salaries are based on years of experience and skillset.
