Job Overview: Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ is looking for a qualified individual for the Directo of Central Sterile Supply department. Qualifications:
- Preferred Bachelors in Nursing or other health care related degree and a minimum of 7 years progressively responsible Sterile Processing experience in acute care hospital setting,
- Preferred Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in Central Processing or Perioperative Services with Bachelor s health related degree OR Required 15 years progressive Sterile processing experience with a minimum of 5 of those years in a Leadership role
- Required High school diploma or equivalent required
- CRCST or CBSPD required
- CIS- Certified Instrument Specialist required
- CHL- Certified Healthcare leader required within 1 year required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required

Essential Functions:
- Develop, implement and monitor department goals and objectives,
- Provides strong team leadership, able to motivate staff and respond to individual and team needs,
- Able to develop a strong team culture dealing appropriately with staff conflict,
- Demonstrates collaboration and partnership skills with physicians, Service Line Managers, OR staff, administrative staff and others,
- Effectively leads and facilitates team meeting,
- Self directed in own personal development: setting outcomes, seeking resources or learning, seeking and accepting feedback,
- Able to plan time, organize workload and delegates effectively and efficiently,
- Understands hospital-wide objectives and priorities and incorporates them into departmental goals,
- Supports and participates in the Magnet Recognition process
- Clinically skilled, familiar with sterile processing developments,
- Assures that the standards of operation for the department are in compliance with the standards set by regulatory agencies, i.e, JCAHO, NJ DOH, OSHA and AAMI,
- Ensures established procedures and standards of practice are followed for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of reusable instruments and equipment,
- Responsible for the control of the hospital wide reprocessing functions to include determination of the appropriate method of reprocessing including, but not limited to, collection and transport, decontamination, packaging, sterilization, disinfection, storage and distribution of reprocessed items,
- Monitors and maintains sterilization records according to state guidelines,
- Coordinates repairs and refurbishments and replacements of all instruments and equipment: working collaboratively with Biomedical Engineering,
- Actively collaborates in recruiting, interviewing and hiring with the Human Resources department,
- Demonstrates effective management and progressive discipline for performance issues,
- Performs timely and meaningful feedback and evaluations consistent with RWJUH s policies and procedures,
- Communicates effectively with staff and promotes two-way communication,
- Proactively promotes staff satisfaction and retention and takes prompt action to address concerns or issues,
- Develops unit s salary and non-salary budgets annually to meet sterile processing care delivery goals,
- Effectively allocates and schedules unit resources to meet workload demands,
- Explains any significant variances to VP, Perioperative Services and Finance,
- Identifies and plans for routine capital purchases and replacements,
- Responsible for the continual efforts in cost savings opportunities with respect to alternative products or third party services,
- Analyzes equipment and inventory spending patterns to maximize cost effectiveness,
