About the Role

As part of that journey, we're looking for a Principal Product Manager - a highly-skilled product leader who serves as a strategic "ace in the pocket" - ready to be deployed to the most critical problem areas to accelerate progress, uplevel product execution, and guide teams toward delivering meaningful outcomes. In this role, you won't own just one product - you'll be entrusted with the toughest, most ambiguous spaces across our Data, AI, and Internal Platform ecosystem. You'll bring structure where there's complexity, product excellence where there are gaps, and clarity where there's noise. You will lead initiatives by embedding into those product spaces, your expertise will drive progress where it's needed most. You'll also act as a coach and thought partner - helping raise the product bar across teams and ensuring we build with discipline, speed, and a product-led mindset. This role is highly visible, influencing internal platforms that support thousands of employees and impact millions of customers, all while laying the foundation for AI-powered, human-free operations.
What You'll Do
Serve as a strategic, flexible product leader - deployed to high-impact, high-ambiguity spaces across WEX's Data & AI product portfolio. Diagnose product gaps, define success, and drive execution - bringing clarity, structure, and measurable progress. Partner with senior leaders (SVP+) across Product, Tech, Operations, and GTM to align on priorities, build shared understanding, and translate business needs into scalable solutions. Provide product mentorship and guidance to other PMs - upleveling team capabilities, enforcing product rigor, and fostering a culture of ownership and accountability. Lead with a product mindset: set clear objectives, iterate quickly, balance near-term execution with long-term platform thinking. Drive delivery of AI-powered platforms and services that improve self-service, knowledge intelligence, and benefits insights. Ensure solutions are scalable, reusable, and positioned for both internal and external value creation. Embed data quality, telemetry, and governance from the start - making measurement and continuous improvement core to the product lifecycle.
Experience You'll Bring
15+ years of product management experience, including deep expertise in building risk products, internal platforms, AI/automation tools, or data-driven products. Proven success operating in ambiguous, high-stakes environments - known for bringing structure, product discipline, and measurable outcomes. Strong strategic thinking - able to quickly assess business problems, define approach, and mobilize cross-functional teams. A trusted "utility player" mindset - thrives in roles that flex between ownership, execution, coaching, and thought leadership. Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels - from individual contributors to executive leadership. Deep understanding of the data and AI lifecycle - from ingestion to signal generation to embedded insights. Passion for building internal products that unlock operational efficiency and empower employees. Bias for action with a pragmatic approach to scaling and iteration. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. Pay Range: $169,000.00 - $225,000.00
